Places to eat in Palm Desert and Palm Springs

Palm Desert is not just for sunning the bod, it's a mecca for good eating. Having spent quite a bit of time there this past year, here are my recs:

Italian-

Cocina Pasta- located on Highway 111. This family run place is homey and friendly and has amazing italian and greek food. Loads of homemade bread. To die for fettucini and lobster ravioli and good old spaghetti. The one dish I'd avoid is their eggplant parmigiano- but I'm picky about that.

Amici- located on Highway 111.

Mexican-

Don Diego- located in Albertsons shopping center highway 111. Generous margaritas (0rder the cadillac) and wonderful shrimp and lobster quesadilla. Decent chips and salsa. Loud mariachis.

Seafood-

Roys- located highway 111. Hawaiian fusion cuisine. Best scallops ever! Enjoyed the edamame they bring to every table instead of bread. Friendly and knowledgable service. Pricey but worth it.

Fishermans Market Grill- located Fred Waring Dr. Extensive seafood selection. Good ciopinno. Fresh fish sandwiches. Outdoor seating. casual, order at counter.

Happy Hour-

The Yard House- located at The River. I know, I know, it's a chain but dang, half price appetizers that are pretty terrific. Big fan of spicy tuna roll and california roll. Avoid the nachos. Classic rock and a friendly vibe. Huge beer on tap selection.

Breakfast-

The Palm Cafe- located Fred Waring Dr. How good can breakfast be, right? Pretty darn good here. Omelets are perfection. Non greasy hash browns, lovely fresh fruit, happy, smiling help. They even can do a poached egg. Whoa.
